Turning on your heel, you do your best to keep your pace to a walk until you round the corner of the school building, at which point you break out into a sprint. It only takes you a few seconds to come to a gasping stumble of a halt, but you brace yourself against the cool brick wall with one hand and catch your breath.

That was… terrifying. Why in the world was Mr. Euss talking like that? You have no idea how he became a teacher at your school, but if that was hiding under the surface this whole time, then maybe he was one of those insane people that everybody thinks is normal until they do something horrible. Well, at least you know he never got the chance to do anything like that. You guess whatever had just happened in the classroom across the hall had scared him off before he could go off the rails.

Speaking of which, you should probably go find out what that was. Somebody probably just slipped and banged their head, but if Mr. Euss left then maybe they’d be let out of school early for the day while the school tries to figure out the confusion.

Then again, do you really want to go back inside? You feel incredibly jumpy, and maybe you just need a short walk to clear your head. Wyrr’s probably still reading under that tree, and it might be a good idea to take another minute of calm.

You take a few deep breaths, trying unsuccessfully to bring your heart rate a little further down, then take a few slow steps.
